Replacing wheel studs
I understand that it is best to get new bearings when replacing wheel studs, or in my case replacing stripped studs with extended studs. However, has anyone used the following thread to replace their wheel studs without getting new bearings?

I ask because I would would really like to avoid turning new wheel studs ($70) into a several hundred dollar job ($100 for new bearings plus a few hundred to have all the labor done).
Basically I would just like to know if many people have successfully replaced their own wheel studs.
Thanks

i've replaced wheel studs on my ef sedan. although some may say to remove the hub (it requires a press). i just removed a small amount of material from the knuckle .. just enough to get the wheel stud in from behind, (and ground away a small portion of the the flat (mushroom) end of the wheel stud, enought to get it into the stud hole from behind. may not be possible with longer studs. to those who say this weakens the stud.. i've been driving on it like this for 2 yrs, and just did 300k of >110k on dirt roads (had the urge to do some backroad rallyish dirt driving with friends) and still holding strong!
