Default Help! Did my Tranny took a dump on me???

My civic just broke the passenger side axle and looks like from the hub. I can see the axles spinning and making the clunking noise from it when the car is running while in neutral. Now heres the dilemma that i am having and not sure, since i never experience a broken axle before. When the car is running and in neutral...I could shift into all gears without pressing down the clutch. When it goes into any of those gears....I've notice that the RPM jumps up and down from 1-2k rpm.

So my question is: did my tranny went out as well along with my broken axle? Could it be that my clutch went out?

Car is a 97 Civic coupe w/JDM B18C hydro lsd tranny.

dont really know if the trannys shot, but that would be a shitty loss. never experienced a broken axle, but i would think that it would cause weird tranny malfunctions.

goodluck

Without the axle in the tranny you can shift into gear without the clutch because the Differential is spinning. Replace the axle and let us know.

your tranny is fine...c your clutch is just barely riding on your flywheel (in neutral), so when u have your axle out, there is no restriction on the transmisson so it'll spin... so when u engage your gears, your transmission is trying to rev-match your motor...once u put your new axle back in it'll be fine...don't worry
