Default 9kRevlimitdc2's Gsr *Build Thread* TONS OF PICS

Hello to all of you who are looking at this for the first time. Since having a build thread is the cool thing i do i figured id jump on the band wagon. I know most of you check this site often and i find myself doing the same so ill try to update this with new pictures a few times a week if i can have it my way. I work full time temporarily until School picks up again in the fall. Just a quick lil something about me im 20 and i live in NH and im going to be a JR at the University of New Hampshire in the fall.

Here are a few pics of the car from around the time of the accident that happened last fall. (Im using a shitty point and shoot so sorry for the quality i dont have enough spare funds with school payments and all to purchase something better)

At Auto-x @ NHIS

Throwback pics from years ago

The original jizzer wheels i had on the car

The motor is somewhere in this mess i think (3 year old pic)

Parts i picked up along the way to help me get going (winter of 06)

Now most of you haven't heart of Haste Motorsports. Theyre a relatively new company based out west and they specialize in cooling products and i purchased their prototype triple core radiator from them online a few years ago when i was getting ready to remove my malfunctioning AC unit and flush my system. The radiator is hand welded beautifully and is very light weight being that it is twice as thick as an oem radiator. The reason why i took a risk and went with this instead of a koyo or mishimoto ebay special was one the price (only 200 shipped with the 1.3bar rad cap) and two he offered a warranty that just couldnt be beat. So i bought it and ive put it through some abuse on the street and in aut0-x events and i must say it is the best 200 i spent on the car so far. Here are a few pics of the bay after i removed ac and put the radiator in last summer. Also by this time i had removed cruise control to free up some room and because i hate it and i had swapped out the **** box intake manifold for an AEBS unit which i enjoy dearly.

Before i got the slim fan, just test fitting the stock fan to make myself a believer that it will never work!

At the end of last summer i decided to put my hondata s200 to use and get a base tune and to fix all the afr and idling problems id been having. It turned out pretty well it was a lot of fun i went to place in a small town its called Trick Engineering and Jeff was a really cool meng and it hookked it up fo real. Heres one of the only pics i have, and a shitty one at that.

Now a few weeks after that i was involved in a minor accident going around a rotary. This mental woman (and im not kidding) decided she wanted to lock up her brakes and when i tried to lock up mine i put a 1/4 inch hole in the right front brake line sending me right into her ***. No damage to anything mechanical luckily.. but the hood and the front bumper are junk. I dont have too many pictures because i was so angry at myself i started to tear it apart right away.

You can see the large dent in the middle of the front bumper..

That took most of the force. Meanwhile, i plan on getting a lot more serious about auto-x and would like to explore other forms as well. So ive decided to change/upgrade whathaveyou as much as possible. I started to do a lot and i will get more indepth with the rest of the pictures i have as well as the parts i have accumulated over the school year and the first few weeks of summer. Ill leave you today with a few more pictures. Thanks for looking!!
Comments always welcome.

Removed the master cylinder

Popped out ABS and all the brake lines except the two going to the rear.

Left with a big dirty hole that needs tlc and a shat load of simple green

A shot from farther out..

How it sat as of a month-two months ago

Pics of the Hood i bought online that got shipped in tip top shape

Thanks again.

So i didnt get a chance to update anything last night because i work long hours so i didnt have the chance. In taking apart the engine bay and getting everything ready for re-assembly i decided to clean up the really poor looking hood latch.

Before:

After:

Got a package today too!

My 1L Can of ATE super blue brake fluid. I hope its enough to fill the entire system since almost all of the plumbing is brand new.

Update for all you suckaaasss
Got some more work done on some minor details. First off, i decided that since my antenna does not work properly and i do not use my rear wiper for any reason at all i removed both until further notice. I might get an s2k antenna down the road.. but im still uncertain about it.

So i started off by removing the rear wiper assembly.
I pried open the cover just enough so that i wouldnt damage the clips and so i could reach all the bolts. Unbolted the three main bolts you can kind of see here.

Then i popped off the cap on top of the exterior assembly

I removed the old wiper blade and arm together by taking the 10mm nut off that is under the cap.
I was then left with this..

I unbolted that and then i was able to free the motor from the teggys grasp

Then i moved on to the antenna..(sorry no pics of the process it started to get dark out so i wanted to finish it quick. Its just a screw/bolt anyways.

I found this freaky lookin thing in the back too i think it was an antenna amplifier that the moron i bought the car from put in for some reason.. could be why my antenna sucks in the first place. CD's are where its at anyways

Thats getting trashed. You can see how he duct taped some piece onto the fender well...

I ordered a slew of parts from acuraoemparts.com and in that bunch are the two plugs for the holes so until then i just used painters tape to cover them up so no moisture gets in.

And that'll do it im heading outside to start painting the calipers since its nice out but not humid at all

Cool build. When you get it back together you should come to Maine and run an autocross with us. http://www.cumberlandmotorclub.com

UpdAte!!!!
Ive been taking apart the entire brake system over the past few weeks so i finally got the first two coats of paint on my calipers today after work. It was nice out and there wasnt a lot of humidity so it worked out well.

I started off by using a wire wheel to get the calipers as close to a bead blasted finish as possible... but its not easy or as effective
A few pics of the Before

During the soaking and cleaning

Tools of Choice

Shoes took a beating like none other

Then i was able to mask off the areas where i didnt want any paint for obvious reasons

Got everything set up outside.. my workbench is the shitty hood they sent me

First Coat:

Now im using white for my first few coats for a reason.. my final color looks similar to the oem finish and im worried that i might miss spots.. and it will help the color pop a lot more

Second Coat:

Boxed Up for the Night Until Tomorrow

Thanks for Looking

Yea its been a while i have SOOO many pictures to put in here but not nearly enough time to get them all up. Im probaby going to stay the NA route just because im setting it up for aut-x and other track based events so i dont think a turbo is necessary for that or my college budget. I plan on pulling the motor in the future to refresh everything and add internals but like i said thats expensive and if i do it im going to do it right (and that = mad dollars sOn!)

Hahaha it took about 30 minutes to get the first two coats of paint onto those and about 8-10 hours to get them to where i could even think about laying paint down so it would stick. Im glad you like them hopefully they turn out like i want.. why dont you have Easy_E help you? everything you SHG kids touch turns to gold.

Heading outside NOW to finish/start many things a lot of pictures should be up Tonight!!

Thats what she said. And your gunna get some right now!

So id really like to say that i got a lot of work done today. I started off by removing both fender liners to be able to access the fender bolts so that i may remove them for my later task.

Passenger Fender Off

On the Ground Bitch

Other Splash Guard off..

Other fender removed..

My **** is so dirty

I tucked the hood latch cable, no big deal.. just added theft prevention i guess

Coming out the other end

Now i dont really know how to go about saying this without sounding like a [freak]ing moron but.. do you have to remove the dash to tuck the headlight wires? i dont want to do a full tuck right now but the two side harnesses for the headlights look stupid sorry if that sounds dumb

Removed the drivers side headlight to look at the damage better

The hole it left..

Now as you can see when the accident occurred the radiator support took all of the structural damage to the drivers side. It bent it back pretty cleanly so i tried to see if i could straighten it out with a mallet and a block..

A couple whacks moved it a bit.. but the bumper was still way off..

I tried checking both sides of the support to see if theyre level and even..

Both were pretty much the same so i checked the support beam..

Turns out that is a little off too because where it bolts to the drivers side it is slanted a bit but the beam itself is not damaged if that makes any sense
Took the Beam off

The clip/bolt in the middle left of the screen is the bottom part of the headlight bracket and when the impact occurred it snapped it clean off

Might as well paint the beam while im at it i think

After that i was pretty frustrated and ive decided to leave the work to someone who is trained in frame straightening so i went back to the fenders and started on my new mini project

Ive had DC/EG sidemarkers sitting in my room for almost a year now and ive always loved they way the look and you dont see them on ANY cars around New England so being that i want to stand out in a classy/non-flashy way ive decided to go through with putting them on.

I started to tape the guide line to make sure everything lines up to where they would be if it WAS oem. I made this template out of cardboard and used all the different cutting directions on the INTERWEB and decided after numerous test fits that this size would be what i work with.

Heres a pic of what the marker looks like from above in the template..(you can see my new goodie on the bottom )

All taped off..

What it should look like when i use the dremel tomorrow morning

After i did the same to the other fender i was done with that so i moved on to the next task. The front rotors. These [freak]in pains in my *** have been rusted on so well over the past few weeks ever since i removed the calipers and i havent been able to get them off so i pounded the **** out of them on each side UNGENTLY (thats not a word) with my hammer (time).

I won that battle you *****.

With the working can of paint i had for the calipers i proceeded to put another coat on them with the actual color i was going to go with. (after this i tried the second can and it only spat out air so i need to return it tomorrow)

No its not original im sure many have the same color but it doesnt stick out too much IMHO and i like it SO BACK OFF .

Until i get another can im stuck with half painted calipers and i wasnt sunburnt enough yet (seriously im white as FVCK but not anymore ) I cleaned up the firewall a little bit while taking a break from the action and the top right came out glossy and hawt but below that its just gunk and depressed feelings for me.

Yea i know my bay is a mess but if you can believe it i know where everything is supposed to go and its actually 100 times better than it was a few weeks ago.

Then i took this rediculous thing..

and placed it into my tranny plug and removed it so i could flush/refill my transmission fluidz nukKA
Right here..

MmmmmMMMMMMMM that makes me thirsty

Haahhaha i was scared for a second it was going to overflow

Im using this **** ONLY because its got a lime green cool *** label. [freak] its properties and what not

I got this cool new magnetic PW:JDM tranny plug

Then i made magic.. this three become

A sick *** funnel yO1!

This is what i have to work with a small as garage and a temporary one.. and im stuck in the middle

Zen i moved onto my fuel delivery system

Add a compression fitting

Wallah! you have your -6an adapater

Brake line time.. i know this is going on forever right?

This is the prop valve to Pass. side

Rough test fit(s)

Prop. to drivers side

No pics of the test fit... went just as well as the pass side

Last thing of the day was to flush out the old clutch fluid. Started by taking the hard and soft lines apart

Other end

I want to refinish the MC cuz im picky and i think i can do wonders with it(hopfully) Removed:

Pumped the clutch a few times to flush out the rest of that yucky old fluid so i can add the new line (coming soon) and get ready to add some new fluids

It all drained into that bucket which gets dumped into the sewer. Im mean what, im just kidding i love the environment

Thanks for Looking!!!
