alternator removal DA
hey guys im removing my alternator so far i unbolted everything but i cant remove it from the vehicle is there a special way to remove either from the top or bottom i really need to resolve this in order to get to work, thnx for any input
there's 2 ways you can get it done, one is pulling off the drivers axle and get the alternator from the bottom or remove the master cylinder (if removing master cylinder make sure to bleed the brakes and inspect the rear seal to make sure that there is no fluid inside the booster) good luck.
yes it does come out without braking half of the car apart... the same hole you reach your oil filter from the bottom... just move it around... you may think it wont come out but it does... just be patient...
strange as it sounds I had this same problem on my old 91, but I wiggled it out some how, yet a few years later on my 92 I had to pull the driver axel, I couldnt remember how the heck I got it out..

i find this to be the easiest way to do it. just because you dont need to remove the axle and the alternator will still be able to drop down.

Yes it does, took me about 10 minutes of moving it around to get it out of my buddy's car.

ok here is how you do it i can change them out in 15min now .
1. remove 3 14 mm bolts holding the half shaft
2. remove 4 10 mm bolts holding the steering rack skid plate
3. move half shaft to the left (as if you were going to take it out )
this will give you about 3-4 inchs of clearence
4. now take the alternator pully side down and rotate until it falls out .
to install the new one just follow directions in reverse
