How to remove tranny housing?
ok, so I remove all the attachment bolts, reverse idler gear shaft bolt, and the 32mm sealing bolt as said in the Helms manual section 13-10. I had to hammer some leverage to pop open the transmission housing. The only thing is that I can't open the tranny all the way. The most I can crack it open is about 1 inch apart from each other.
Is there something that I'm missing?
Only thing that I didn't do, as helm manuals says, is "expand the snap ring on the countershaft ball bearing". Is this part crucial to separating the housing apart?
HELP!!

If you have it an inch apart, you've already cleared the snap ring. The other thing that sometimes binds is the shift fork.. try sticking a screwdriver in the crack and putting pressure on the 5/R shift fork (tall one) look in the helms to get a bearing on where you need to put the screwdriver, or just fish around with it and eventually the damn thing will pop open.

Use a pair of snap ring pliers or regular pliers to spread apart the snap ring
I find using two flat head screw drivers works better then any pliers.
