its been a while since i last messed with my shifter but the easiest way for me to do it was to jack the driver side of the car up and please use jack stands and not just a jack. position yourself right under your shifter (follow your shift linkage from the transmission to the bottom of the shifter, in case you didnt know how to get to your shifter from underneath the car) there should be 2 bolts holding a bridge type bracket in place, remove the brakcet and the entire shifter assembly should fall from inside to below the car, once this is the done the rest is explanatory shouldnt be hard for you to do at all, i also recommend getting the poly bushing (u can search ebay and they usually cost like 20 dollars) that replaces the stock rubber bushing for better shifts not only that you might as well do it while your down there cause i didnt and i shifted from 3rd to 4th and the bushing broke and i guess it fell off while i was on the highway

I would start by removing the interior trim first as well as the shift ****...then go underneath the car...it's also a lot easier if you remove part of the exhaust...D

Remove the shift ****, jack the car up, use jack stands, 2 bolts connected from the shifter to the shift linkage, 2 connecting it to the frame of the car. Disconnect those, pull the old shifter down, and reverse the process for re-installing it.

Lowering your exhaust does help, but it's not impossible otherwise, just alot harder.
