99-00 OEM CTR/JDM Style/SI Fogs (Debate & Discussion)
Hopefully this isnt a repost but im looking to get some fog lights for my 99 coupe.
Ive been waiting on a clean set of OEM CTR fogs but i keep seeing them for the price of 475 app. I dont mind paying that but a couple of people that ive talked to suggest that i should just purchase an aftermarket set and call it a day.
Anyone have any theories or experiences ?

i bought some jdm style fogs for my 00 si from modacar.com for $100, nice and inexpensive and it was the easiest fog install ive ever done, complete wire harness, no stripping/splicing etc just power/ a few grounds, connections to the fog lights themselves and a connection under the dash in the fuse panel, 100% plug and play, and they look great!

do the replica fogs crack alot eaisier then the oem lenses ? that was one of my main concerns

i would say its unlikely, i havent heard of this problem or had it myself and ive seen people use these a dozen or so times, the plastic cover pieces and the glass on the fog light itself seems fairly sturdy, im very pleased with mine i wasnt expecting quite the quality that i got

IMO, I would get OEM. My last car had and my current car has OEM fogs. Worth the extra money because there weren't any wiring issues or broken switches that aftermarket fogs are known to have.

Do yourself a favor and order a set of Depos. Everyone I know that gotten anything other than Depo or OEM has been dealing with cracked lenses

USDM fogs are pretty cheap, not much more than aftermarket kits. The only thing is the switch is sold separately, and the dark gray switches are discontinued (I have two by the way).

thanks for all the feedback. I do want the yellow lenses tho. Depot fogs are clear lenses correct ? Is there anyway to purchase the Raybrig yellow lense seperately ?

Fogs are funny...
I've started to order them scores of times, but a gag reflex always sets in - like chewing a piece of rotten meat - smelling a fart in a crowded bus - or someone barfing on you!
Later, I'm always happy I fought the urge...
After all these years, I still can't figure out if I love 'em or hate 'em!
Maybe I'll do it this time, but probably not.
I digress...
I talked to a guy at the gas station, a couple weeks ago, with a brand new 2008 CiViC Si.
He was interested in my B16A2-EJ7 swap, so we popped hoods and compared motors, blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, during the course of the conversation, he made an odd comment, "I'm glad to see you don't have those stupid lights in your bumper like the kids!"
I guess that says it all...

OP, if anything get a depo set and rewire the harness yourself. You can buy the yellow lense covers from laminx (great customer service) or paint them yellow.
I have the depo set with a rewired harness, OE switch, and laminx yellow lenses. They work pretty good. I'd def recommend buying a oem setup though.

If i find a deal on OEM CTRs then i will pick em up. it seems hassle free as to the depots you gotta re wire etc etc. im not too mechanically inclined
when it comes to wiring/electrical so the easiest is the best for me.
