Default Engine knock when hot

Hey guys, I have a (another) wierd one....

When the car is coold and first starts, engine is qiuetly puring along. However after ~10-15min's, when idleing I can hear a distinct knocking noise coming from what sounds like near the front left of the engine.

Under load it goes away, or at least I can't hear it.

Is my oil to thin as I used 10W-30 and while I don't know anything about oil, should I just use heavier oil? The car has 140K miles on it but compression is good and the timing belt and tensioners were just replaced.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Try removing your alternator/ air conditioning belt and see if the knocking persists. Since you said it was in the left side of the engine bay.I had the same situation as you ,a distinctive knocking after the car was warmed up and would go away under load. So thinking it may have been a power steering pump or such that went bad I pulled the belts and fired the car up , No more knocking and come to find out it was my a/c compressor that had went bad and was making the noise. Just a suggestion for you I hope thats all it turns out to be. Best of luck to you.
