hey i have an 89 civic dx with a b16 swapped in i was wondering what would be easier to change would it be easier to change my front wheel bearings because there both pretty shot or would it be easier to just change both wheel hubs? or can i even change my hubs with the swap done ? any kind of info would be great thanks !!
by hubs i think you mean the knuckles. you can upgrade if you get the brakes with them. if your wheel bearings are bad and you are NOT going to upgrade to integra knuckles or whatever, you should replace them soon. i waited too long and one of my hubs got chewed up...had to find a good used one or pay like 130 for a new hub, on top of buying a new bearing. the engine swap shouldn't really matter for the bearings/knuckles
I am curious about wheel bearings as well.....My driver side is shot and making noise.....
The stupid Haynes manual has NOTHING on replacing the front wheel bearing on a
crx...who here has some know how on this? Can you replace it with hand tools?
Does it need to be pressed out and in? Can it be done with a puller

for replacing the bearing it needs to be pressed in and out. i highly dont recommend a puller. the bearings need to go evenly if not ull burn through them real quick
theres a spindle. aka knuckle.
theres a wheel bearing.
and theres a hub. not the same thing as a spindle. this is the piece with the wheels studs pressed in.
the wheel bearing goes in the knuckle. the hub goes in the wheel bearing. both should be pressed. you can use hand tools like a puller along with some air tools. but a good press is worth it.
instructions are fairly detailed in the factory manual. theres also a pretty good thread in the FAQ for you noobs to search.
i DO recommend buying new hubs with new bearings. i have broken my hubs trying to reuse them after new bearings... but that was on track and it took a lot of effort to press them out, so it probably was stressed. but for the street, i guess youll be ok reusing the old hubs. kinda up to you.
