It happened!!! Type R investment STOLEN/GOne....(Chicago Burbs)=(
Stolen from Lake Forest.......
Very close friend and I decided to chip in to buy a type R shell and build it into our project. We had all of our investment lined up and ready in his garage. We had near every part from misc bolts all the way to the engine. All we were waiting on was a pair of Recaros and plastic framings. I get off for summer so we were waiting till next weekend to start putting things togather.
Last night someone decided to break into his garage an litterally take every thing including a couple pairs of new shoes and a full box of life water. the only thing left was the shell......Thousands of dollars out the door. We didnt have any insurance yet so I really dont know what to do....My friend was out on a date with his fiance when this all happened somwhere between 7pm-2am.....Please keep an eye out on ebay/craigs.
I have seen, heard and personally know a couple ppl getting their Hondas stolen but not like this..
If anyone has information please call 911 and let us know
EDIT:::: So it turns out that home owners insurance will cover the stolen parts as long as we have the receipts......The thing is that one some of the parts we have no record b/c we bought them off of craigs list. But for things like the engine and all other ordered parts we will get cash back from the insurance company. I just feel bad becasue Lake Forest is a very nice neighborhood. I just cant believe that this can happen around this area...........

Sorry to hear man. That is what thieves usually go for, the stuff in the car, not the car itself.
can you trust all those who knew about this "project"? hard to believe this to be some random theft, unless the garage was open all the time for the public's viewing pleasure. if your friend had home owner's insurance and receipts, that might be something to follow. that bites
Sounds like an inside job.
A random thief would not know ITR parts were inside the garage unless a huge Neon sign was outside stating it.

speechless. sorry for the loss. lake forest is not the type of place i would expect something like this to happen.
the neighbors must have seen or heard something unless the house has one of those long drive ways. wish the best of luck in this unfortunate situation.

Naw we arnt going to sell the shell. Fortunately my friend has disposable income so when
he gets a check from the insurance we are going to continue our project. We both invested half and half but since it was stolen from his house hes pitching some extra cash.
