Default Middle Piston rings have no markings...what side goes up?

I am installing my new rings and the middle rings have no indication of "up", no markings, no dot...nothing... but the outside edge has a "bevel" I remember reading awhile back that the bevel can be the indicator...but I cant find the post...and cant remember if the bezel faces up or down.
