Default Factory Cars with Turbo's

Ive been to the junk yard quite a bit lately and I have seen 4-5 Small Air Research Turbo's just laying out in the open and I was wondering what car is OEM supplied with that turbo??? Its real small with a t3 turbin housing and something in the .40 range on the compressor side... its probably small enough to make 200-250 whp ???

Anyone know what car they come on???

Ford SVO, Saabs, Volvos, Some VWs. There are more than you think, but that doesn't mean that they are the better option on your application. Just because it may be cheap to pick up, doesn't mean it may be cheap to repair or resuse. Just be careful.

unless you know what your doing, and you know how to rebuild these turbos properly, I think the evidence has proven that rolling the dice with an ebay turbo is better than slapping on a junkyard unit

They go for $50-100 on ebay, and aren't bad for a smaller motor like a D15, or a bigger low-rpm motor. 200-250whp is about right, maxed out. The one I have that was rebuilt by Volvo at one point is a 50trim .42ar comp, stg1 .48ar exhaust, 5bolt removable internal WG.

The thing to look for is excessive wear and oil coking on the shaft/bearings. Some of them are in the junk yard since some people don't change their oil and in general abuse their ride.

I had one of those little ones on my D16, it came off of a SAAB and it was a T3 50trim .42/.48 and with a stock Y8 head and intake manifold and had 9:1 wiseco pistons I made 233WHP & 226WTQ @ 16psi with only a 2.5" DP through a full 2.5" exhaust, it was fun for what it was but you ended up wanting more from it.

thanks alot room... Yeah i know all about shaft play and efficiency and all tat stuff... i was just tryna figure out where they where comming from...

Was thinking about puttin one on my lil d15 beater but commin up on 316,000 miles is probably not the smartest thing to do...

I still have AC, Power Steering, Cruise Control and a Mint interior...

Soon there will be a b16a built to OEM b16b specs in the car hopefully within the next month and then for sale

So if you all are interested keep a lookout for her...

And BTW is a 91 4 dr.
