I noticed a small dent just to the side of the hood emblem
Brand new OEM hood from Honda not even 9 months old. I will have it fixed.
Do you guys drop the hood from approximately 6" to let it slam onto the latch?
Or do you press the hood down with your hand or fingers? Maybe by spreading the fingers and pressing in 10 places (10 fiingers) the force will be so light no damage will be caused?!?!
What do you guys think? I'm referring to 92-95's, but they should all pretty much be the same.

That's what I do, or even higher, on both my Civics

stock paint job = drop it from 6"
custom paint job = lower it gently and push down on it with your palm..

You got it, baby!
I don't push on ANY sheet metal ANYWHERE on my car!
If Honda CiViCs were made of paper, you could see though them - that's how thin the metal is...

NO!! Take a sledge hammer and gently put the hood on the the latch then beat the hell out of it genius! Everybody in Japan does is that way and then just gets a new hood! Those Japaneese are so fresh!!

I learned after two hoods to gently let the safety latch, and then push both sides at the outside bend on both front corners at the same time. Works like a charm.

I digress...
I'm remounting the amp, stiffening cap, and sub-woofer in my trunk today - moving everything over to the rear driver's-side seat...
LoL!
I peeled back the carpeting on the rear seat and it looks like a rusty beer can under there - don't even trust it to hold my amp and cap!
I cut out a 11"x17" piece of pressure board and I'm gonna use it under the carpet to reinforce the flimsy seat back...
If you wanna a lightweight car... I guess you have to put up with paper-thin sheet metal, yes?

I don't know how long you guys have had your Civics but I have been dropping my hood for just under 8 years with no apparent damage or change in how the latch works or dents in the hood/chipped paint whatever.
No anger, just my .02

also, i definitely just messed up my hood latch by dropping it. i dropped it 3 times in a day, the third time did it in. it also put a small dent on the hood, so im upset! i always set it down, and then push on it a little bit, just because thats how i was told when i first got into cars, and it never did any damage to be gentle. i figured eh, what the hell. ill drop it. and only after a few times, my latch broke! damnit.
then again, look at all the cars in the world, most people just drop 'em from wherever and call it a day and they seem to be fine!
