B16 with LSD or GSR with LSD for b18c engine ?
I have my b18c JDM gsr right now and its been paired to my cable LS tranny for a year now and i'm tired of the LONG gearing because it doesn't make the engine a joy to drive although the engine still pulls strong. I have been thinking about going with JDM GSR tranny with LSD. I know the B16 tranny With LSD will be faster because of the shorter gearing, but I will have to sacrifice highway RPM.
Also what is the difference with the B16 tranny with LSD and the 96 spec Type R tranny ? I have also thought about the 98 spec Type R tranny, but the price is more than I want to spend. I have gotten prices from HMO.
I also want to get innovative motor mounts and cable to hydro conversion, and a new clutch to go with my lightweight flywheel. The car is a DD with occasional spirited driving and I want to get into autocross and the dragstrip probably once every other month.
All comments are welcome. Thanks.

i think the difference between the b16 and type r is the final drive and gear ratios are slightly different but similar. i would go with jdm b16 lsd. but try to get gsr 4th and 5th.
if ur really wanting quicker go b16 its geared a lil quicker ya might have to give up ur rpms on the highway but i think u will like it a lot better unless ur on the highway a lot
with 205/50/15 and a 96 spec type R tranny I should be around 4200rpm at 75mph which isn't that bad for a gsr engine. The engine is high strung anyway right ?
I am thinking about getting a 96 spec type R tranny because It is only about 2-300 more than an LSD B16 tranny and the type R has dual synchros in every gear.
Does anyone have a gsr with either a type R ttranny or a b16 tranny ? Any feedback ?

I have a Gsr with b16 tranny and I hate it on the highway. At 80mph I was at 4700rpm with my 205/50/15's. Now that I put on some 17's (call me rice, I don't care) it dropped about 150rpms. Around town it's fun, but if you do any constant driving over 45mph, you're goin to hate life.
my friend had a built ls/vtec wit a y1 lsd tranny and at 80mph he was at like 5k i believe.. it all depends on how much ur on the highway ya know.. like me im not on the very much so i would totally do it i have a ls tranny and i want better gearing. but the type r is goin 2 b higher gearing now the type r i believe is the same gearing as the ls n 1st and 2nd i believe.. where its different is the 3rd 4th and 5th is jus a lil different i belive

Just so no one follows your false information, The USDM Type R tranny and JDM 96 spec Type R tranny have the EXACT SAME GEARING as a B16 tranny and the same 4.4 Final drive. The main difference between the JDM 96 spec Type R tranny and a B16 tranny is that the Type R tranny comes with an LSD stock and has DUAL synchros in every gear making it that much stronger than any other honda tranny.
The GSR and LS both have the same 1st and 2nd gear but, 3rd, 4th and 5th are shorter on a GSR and longer on an LS. Also the GSR final drive is also 4.4 while the LS has a 4.266 Final drive ratio.
Now the JDM 98 spec Type R tranny has B16 1st, 2nd, 3rd and GSR 4th and 5th all with a 4.785 Final drive ratio. All gears are also dual synchro and has a factory LSD stock.
