I know this is a dumb question but is taking the MFC course the only legal way to ride a bike? I own a buisness so I don't have much time during weekdays or weekends to get "another" license. Can I not just buy a bike..go to the DMV and take the test to get a license like a car? Again sorry for the dumb question

I think it depends state to state.

You probably have to take a written test at the SOS. You also probably need to perform a driving test by somebody licensed by the SOS. When you take the MSF course, they take care of the driving test for you (if you pass.)

But you still need to take the test after that at the SOS.

You can call em, ask them for a company to test your driving skills, you pass that, and then pass the SOS test, and you're good.

yea you can just get a bike and take the test. But in massachusetts if you take the course you get 10% discount on insurance and also they waive the test if you pass the MSF test you learn way more from the course.

Congrats, I just got my permit today as well. 3 questions wrong.

Also got it insured. Can't beat $350something a year.

Here in NJ, there are two tests. The MSF and the MSV. The latter is provided free of charge by the Division of Motor Vehicles. Once you pass that, you automatically get your license.

The MSF is the safety course that many people speak of here. That costs about $150 here.

Well, you need some sort of test. It can be the MSV test, or you can take the standard road test like you do with cars.
