Default ppl that know the type-R's

Help on some B info

The motor that I have is a B18C not a B18C5 is that a JDM or USDM?????

Also my motor that I got from H motors said the redline is 8,200 or is it 9,000??? It let me go to 8,500. I am useing a USDM p73 ecu and not the JDM.

Can any one help me out on the diff in a USDM type-R to a JDM type-R motor and ecu???

I want to know hp, speed lim and rev of the jdm and the usdm p73 ecu.

Also some one toled me that there is a teg-R motor???? What is a teg-R motor and they say it rev a 9,000 and how can I tell the diff in the motors???

I just want any info I can get on the type-r motors. Any info would help Thanks Wolfy

As stated above, a B18C is either a JDM GSR(SiR-G/Si VTEC) motor or a JDM Type-R motor. There are numerous guides to help you determine wether your motor is an ITR or GSR motor.
A JDM ECU will have a 180 KPH speed limiter, a USDM ECU will not. AFAIK, all B18C's in Type-R trim (USDM or JDM or EDM) have an 8400 RPM redline, but I do not know what the factory rev limiter is set to. You cannot count on your factory tachometer to give you accurate readings in the very high RPM range, just because your motor appears to be revving to a certain point does not mean that it's actually revving that high, or it might be revving even higher.
Any USDM motor will have 195 hp, the hp of a JDM motor will depend on the year ('96 spec vs. '98 spec) but is very close either way. a '98 spec JDM transmission will have shorter gear ratios.

A quick look at the head will help you determine if you have a ITR or GSR B18C

The intake manifolds are quite different in design. It could have been changed so another dead givaway is how the coolant hoses are hooked up to the head. If you want, post a pic of your engine and we will be able to tell you.

It's a JDM R motor from what I can tell. The fact that the block stamping is "B18C" instead of "B18C(Insert number here)" means the motor is unquestionably a JDM model(USDM and European motors have numbers after the "B18C" to designate exactly which model they are), and as far as I can see and gather from what you've told us it is a Type R motor. I can't guarantee it 100% without seeing it for sure, but I'm very sure as it is. If it is a fake ITR motor, then it's probably a JDM GSR bottom end mated to a B16 or ITR head, but I seriously doubt that's the case.
:edit: The thing I can't honestly tell you is whether it's a '96 Spec or '98 spec motor, which would make a very small difference in power. I'll have to leave that up to the experts.
