Default Help with swap

hey i have a gsr swap in my eg hatch, im looking into taking the motor out and putting it into an ef hatch or sedan, trying to go with something a little different. so my question is, will my motor go directly in or do i need to get different mounts and such to do the swap? thanks.

pretty sure you will need different mounts.

Default Re: Help with swap (EgChad253)

This topic would be better in the actual EF forum, but since I own an EG with a swap and an EF with a swap I can help.

EG w/B18C5:

EE/EF with B18B1 OBD1:

No it won't go right in without having to purchase extra parts.

1. You must buy an aftermarket mount kit

I suggest HASport http://www.hasport.com but there are about 5 other companies that make and sell them too - Innovative, AZ Race Machine, etc. to name a few.

2. You will need different shift linkage

source the linkage from whomever you buy the mounts from, because it's either custom or OE JDM parts with no US spec parts that work

3. You will need to decide if you're keeping the hydro tranny, or going witha cable tranny

This will also be a huge choice and will also determine what mount kit to buy

4. Depending on trim level of the chassis thre will be a lot of extra wiring involved to convert from Dual-Point (2 injectors) to Multi-Point (4 injectors) when you swap

88-91 CR-X DX, Civic STD, DX, and LX models are all Dual-Point crap injection and must be converted to multi-point to even get the swap to work

5. You will need to convert to OBD1, which costs more money and is even more wiring

Having said that, and currently owning a 92 and 90 civic both with B swaps I say stick to your EG. I love both of my cars dearly, and drive the 90 more because it has A/C, but the urethane mount kits make the car shake and it is annoying as hell. This is unavoidable when swapping a b into a 88-91 Civic.

Also unless you've got at least an extra $1,000.00 for mounts/misc. parts and you enjoy the extra work and wirin forget about it.
