Default My SloEGG build thread! 56K have a seat

Sup guys names Tony! Well i was on here under bdubnyc and i accidently logged out and HT isnt sending me my password retrieval lol so i wanted to change my name any way and post up my hatch and the current build im doing on it! THIS IS MY FIRST BUILD AND MOTOR SWAP! i did the swap about 3 months ago and have been driving it every day and the motor is running strong till this day! Welp here are some pics from when i first got the hatch to how it sits now! ENJOY!

(BTW i got this hatch LAST SUMMER)

The first day i got the hatch...i found it sitting under a trailer in a auto garage parking lot...it looked really sad lol

The Sh!ty D15B8 that was in there...230K YIKES it ran like CRAP! i think it just needed a tune up tho..but at that time i didnt know anything about motors lol

The Windshield was busted and broken to all hell..so took it to get a new one!

Waiting to get a new one

New windshield and chilling outside my job (not harris teeter lol)

Then scored soem LS meshies off a buddy of mine $300 bucks rims and tires

Me and my friend in his nicely done Xb

Pic of me SloEGG! (yea i know it needs a paint job )

Then pulled it into the garage where it would sit for about 7 months undergoing New Interior and Motor Swap.

A quick shot of the head on the 230K D15B8...lol that was my first time taking a Valve Cover off a motor...i got such a rush from doing it

Then Later on down the line..i decided...i need a new motor..i did ALOT OF READING AND LEARNING during this time! Got together some tools and a good friend of mine who is also a Honda freak like me and we got work done!

First we took the head off..

The coolant doesnt look all that great

Took the A/C out

My Putt Putt sittin on Jackstands

My 95 Si Tranny..I figured D was the way to go...For now..so i got the best D series tranny possible (next was to figure out should i get the D15B or Z6)

New Axles

Finally got the motor Dropped out and started working on cleaning up the Engine bay...i didnt know how to do a wire tuck and such..and didnt want to mess anything up trying to do it in the process..so i just cleaned the bay up of Dirt/Oil/Sludge

Dont know if you can tell by the Cell pics..but its starting to look a lil bit better.

Also cleaned the hood

Clean bay (minus the permanet dirty hoses..i didnt know at the time i could order new ones from Honda Online ...i need to get new ones eventually.. )

One of my First Major new upgrades was this!

Here is some crappy Old Cell pics..

Here is the Old Flywheel i was gonna plan on using..but decided it was a no no

Then i scored me a D16Z6 for 350 bucks..it has 170K on it.. but not bad for that price.

Pic of the hatch chillen in the garage

Well i never did get pics of the new parts i got for the motor...but i did get:

Exedy Stg 1 new clutch Kit
Fidanza 7.5 Aluminum Lightened Flywheel
Megan Racing Header
Egay Resonated Test Pipe (it had Spoon Sports on it )
NGK Spark Plugs and new Wires
New Alternator Belt
Si/Ex Harness
P28 ECU
HAMP Oil Filter

Here are some pics of our first Attempt at swapping the motor in without a Hoist

Thats me on the Right and my Boy Jon on the left

SLAMMED!!!

I love these couple of pics! Thanks Daniel (HondaCrazy) the photographer.

Buddy Jon with the infamous "In the bay pic"

Well here are some Pics of the Install!

Thats me on the left in the black mugen shirt looking like an utter bum

Jon having a drink at the watering hole

Me guiding the motor in

Motor Almost in!

Finally Bolted down!

My mad JDM Hoist!

Here is a pic of the motor before i got my Header and Intake

Then got around to getting my Megan racing Header and Intake on!

Its Finally Alive again with a new heart and FULLY GUTTED INTERIOR

I was having some problems with the different plugs on the harness lmfao it turned out that when i would turn the car on and hit the gas..the car would shut off lol so i eventually found out that i had the MAP sensor and TPS sensor plugs mix matched..fixed that problem!

Another problem that arose was that when i would turn the car on..it would have a really CRAZY surging idle..it would bounce up and down like crazy..sounded like a cammed ol skool muscle car! but after it warmed up it was fine.

finally pulled it out under its own power after 6 months of being in the garage

Then one of my good friends came over and we had a lil shoot infront of my house lolz

Here is how the interior looked about 3 months ago

Me looking like an official bum with no haircut cuz i was too worried about working on the hatch

Then i started having some serious bucking problems with the hatch..i wasnt running an O2 Sensor and had no torque mount and

VERY nasty looking spark plugs in the motor. I fixed the problem by Cleaning out my IACV/Tightening my FITV,throwing in some Fuel Injector Cleaner, New Spark plugs, and installing a new Denso O2 sensor and a new Lower Torque mount and new Fuel Filter after all those things installed the car started driving REALLY GOOD! and no more bucking!

Here is some more friends of mine the Mugen Si is Mike and the Supra is Tonney.

Then after hearing some knocking noises coming from the motor..i was destined to swap in a D15B...but after closer inspection..the knocking was actually rubbing of the Crank thingy up against the Timing Belt Cover

Then one of the DUMBEST THINGS I HAVE EVER DONE IN MY LIFE HAPPEND TO ME...

I got into the hatch..had the door open and next to my house there is a hill that kinda goes up so i was backing up next to the hill and had the door open i had just gotten in and as i was backing up before i could close the door all the way..the hill caught the door and did this damage to it...

Also broke off 2 bolts in the process of me taking the door off...

So now i have to get in the Passenger side door...since the driver side is only being held up with the top hinge..i bought new hinges and a door stopper from honda..and also got a new Door off of a Ex coupe..the car is going into the Paint/Body shop next week to have everything fixed and a fresh re-spray of milano red

Also picked up a Ex/Si Tach since my Cx doesnt come with one.

Here is where the hatch stands as of a couple days ago..nothing special...atleast right now hehe

Here you can see the damage to the door

I was also having some problems with my turn signals but i fixed that problem by replacing the bulbs i had in there...i had 1 filament bulbs in 2 filament sockets..so everytime i would hit the turn signals my hazards would come on lolz but thats fixed now...

Only problem i have left that is electircal is that i was driving one night..and i hit a bump in the road..and my Gauge Cluster/Parking Lights/ and my running tail lights all went out...i replaced the dimmer switch but that didnt fix anything...I have working Hazards and turn signals and brake lights..Anyone know what could be the problem?

ehh i guess i get no love since i have a D-series...

Well anyway i went and fixed a problem i was having with my turnsignals i found out that i had the wrong bulbs so i went up to autozone and got 2 filament bulbs since i had 1 filament in the hatch before...so everytime i would turn on my turn signals my hazards would flash

I also fixed my Tail Light/Gauge Cluster problem..found out i blew a fuse so i replaced the fuse and now all my electrical Woes are fixed!

Now i just have to work on this terrible Paint/Body that i have...i guess i will just keep saving money..until i find somewhere to get it done.

Well a buddy of mine just sold his Prelude and picked up a 00 Civic Si..He said the motor has Spun a rod bearing..and is gonna be pulling the motor..

I asked him how much he would sell me the Long block he said he will check its condition when he pulls it today....but my question is..is it possible to fix a spun rod bearing? (bear with me im still fresh to the motor building scene) And how much do you guys think a B16A2 Long block that spun a rod bearing should cost?
