just a REAL simple question!!
So let's say that you are coming to a stop from 50 mph on the 5th gear.
A - About 80% of my friends would put into neutral from 50 mph to 0 mph, saying that so it "saves" some gas because you are not pressing gas.
B - Around 10% of my friends would stay on 5th gear until the rpm gets around 1200 to 1500 to put into neutral. (One of my friends actually told me that the reason why he does is because he heard from someone that putting into neutral from 5th gear in fast speed will "damage" his engine. Believe it or not...lol)
C - 10% (or maybe fewer) including myself do rev matching all the way from 5th gear to neutral if possible, pressing gas while downshifting, so at least it goes smooth and it's fun
So I know C wouldnt be the choisce for sure for gas efficiency, but which would save more gas and which one would be the best for my engine??? now it's the time to change my driving habit

first, i let it coast in whatever gear i am in when stopping (but i may still be in 4th gear, or even 3rd @ 50mph sometimes!)
best for your engine? -who cares its a HONDA!
i believe the ep3 has the "WORKHORSE" K20A3- built to last longer than 200,000 miles- so ENJOY IT!
saving gas-
i tried a tankfull of "going easy and the speed limit" = 30MPG!!!
then a tank full of "WOT anytime possible and over speed limit by 5mph" = 27MPG!!!
i think saving 30 miles on a tank of gas = around $4... per tank
so does it really matter?
not to me! i'd rather use ALL the (little) power Honda has given us K20a3'ers!

If you ever watch a wideband when you let off the gas completely in any gear it goes to like 32:1 AFR.
Just a little FYI.
