P/S power steering removal - padawan kit used - any regrets???
Well among many things i did to my car over the winter one was installing my p/s removal kit i got from padawan on h-t. Kit fits flawlessly and looks great. Never owning a car without p/s im realizing how much i miss it already lol.
I anticipated the hard turns in the parking lot but the car is pretty hard to steer pretty much all the time. Drives straight AWESOME and takes slight turns like a champ on highways/freeways but any abrupt turn requires MUCH force and even feels as if it wants to jerk the wheel out of your hand.
Anyone else experience this when removing your p/s or should i just suck it up? Also interested how many people do HPDE events without p/s considering the added force required to turn sharply?

15" rotards with Falken Azenis RT-615's 205/50/15, bout -1.6* camber in front w/ slight positive caster until re-adjusted before next track day.
How does a NON power steering rack compare to one that is with a delete kit? Maybe this is the route i should have taken

non power steering racks dont have as good of a lock to lock ratio (i believe that's how it's referred to). i think you're better off looping the power steering.
I got a personal steering wheels its tiny lol. The rack goes to a vent basically or a resevior per padawans kit, i was under the impression looping the rack made resistance worse

mine is looped right now. i've seen one guy just run it open
i went from an ek rack to gsr rack/crossmember on my ek... i haven't really notice a difference since i've only driven 30 miles with it on. feels a slight better if i recall, but i still need to do an alignment and what not since i just changed everything out..

I have thought about doing this exact same thing (looping the lines with a breather) but I am not really sure.....I really like my power steering and would only remove it to clean up under the hood
what do you run for a breather? maybe it is not "breathing" enough, not letting enough air out so there is still resistance

Its a brembo brand resevoir but i removed the inner rubber diaphram so that it can breathe but maybe your right... i dunno. Never been without ps and no one seems to have much problems without it.
Toughen up, girly man! I've got no PS, AND a small *** 300mm Momo steering wheel and it doesn't bother me at all...and I've got a 150lb frame! Haha. You'll get used to it and enjoy the benefits.
Same my Personal steering wheel looks like it belongs in a Indy car lol. Guess im just not used to it.
Anyone tell the difference between a looped ps rack and just a sealed rack?

From what I have read most people end up drilling a hole in the top of the cap......even with the seal removed I dont think that you are venting pressure quick enough. Try taking the cap off and going for a short srive around the block and see if that is better though before you drill any holes.

Ill try taken it off and see how that effects it, might just need to make it vent a little better. Otherwise i gotta guy who will sell me sealed rack if i want it. Just dont wanna spend the money if it wont help at all....
Looped stock p/s rack, with a stock steering wheel. I have no trouble in parking lots.
But I've had it like this for over a couple years now, so maybe thats why.

i also have a looped rack and i have no problems with it at all even when im not moving my buddy had a hatch that he just cut the line and let it go
youd hit a bump and the wheel would go crazy but loop the line and youll be fine

Thats what im experiencing, while turning if i hit a bump it wants to pull the wheel out of my hand almost. In a parking lot or even decent speeds im ok with the extra force required but while takin a corner and moderate speeds im afraid im going to slam into the side of someone
Yeah i dunno, id say unless you really have to dont. Especially for daily drivers. I had to make room for my ramhorn setup but would have prefered to keep it.
You are just getting used to it. Having a smaller wheel will also make it harder to turn. I ran without power steering for a long time. It became so easy to me, but every one else didnt like it. The breather system is the easiest as far as effort goes.
What is your tires psi?

I usually set my azenis to 30psi for the street. Im gonna be screwed at the 1320 on slicks that are aired down to 12psi or below lol. Im getting more used to it, went on a lengthy cruise today and did some nice sharp turns and wasnt too bad.
You just have to get used to driving without power steering, that's all. Been doing it for over 1 1/2 years now, and it's just like regular driving to me. Only sucks when you try to parallel park in San Francisco,

haha
