Default annoying loud squeak from rear hatch

Whenever I drive there is an extremely loud annoying squeaking sound from the back of the car. Happens when I go over even the slightest bumps. The only thing that works so far is releasing the hatch so I am driving with it closed, but not locked down. Does anyone else have this problem ???? This is driving me crazy and makes the car much less enjoyable. Thanks !!!!

mine does the same thing. i think it might be the rubber stoppers are worn out. im gonna order new ones and see if that fixes it.

This is a common problem. The easiest and best solution is to wrap electrical tape around the u-shaped latch on the top part of the hatch. This is the piece that latches into the car when the hatch is closed. It looks like a metal "U". Simply take some electrical tape and wrap it around the bottom part of the U several times.

dude you're the man thanks so much ... I had already tried covering the bottom of the rubber stoppers with gorilla tape but that didn't do anything ...

**off topic*** by the way i'm about to switch my obnoxious test pipe and 3 inch N1 style to a cat, resonator, and magnaflow ... which type of oval muffler do you have and have you posted a sound clip somewhere?

I purchased my Magnaflow from summitracing.com. I believe I purchased PN 11225. It's a 2.25" oval canister with offset/center inlet/outlet.

Did that work for you guys? It didn't for me.

I noticed it did not squeek at all when I had my gsr wing on, less weight.... as soon as I threw my Type-R spoiler on the squeeking began again so I guess weight is an issue.
