Anyone out there made your own cargo covers? I am intrigued, but don't want something that looks like total ***. I have a few ideas, materials are wood, or fiberglass, and carpet. Pics?

 

you might be able to find one of the factory ones somewhere. i love mine. i can put a pic up if you want.

 

I've seen a couple factory, I've seen a few reproduced with carbon, but I want to see if anyone has made their own. Actually a picture of a factory one wouldn't hurt. I have a few ideas, such as a piece of string to pull it up, such as like in the back of an eclipse, or other such vehicles. Two piece with the hinge isn't a bad idea either.

 

good topic, I'm in. I need one bad for my hatch to cover up my goodies. Everyone is too proud of theirs, I'm not paying 100 bucks for a trim piece that's so little.

Well once I get some time around, I'll dig around and see what I can't make and take some photos. Maybe this can turn into a sticky if it turns out nice. I think $50 in materials is worth it, moreso that this can be a custom piece that I have made on my own, although a nice oem piece would be nice.

 

its funny. ive known several people with the same car as me but never saw this cargo cover.

 

That's one reason as to why I was thinking of making my own.

 

I've had my tahitian green 91 hatch DX from day 1 and the only time someone broke into my car was to steal a cargo cover. The rear glass was shattered into million pieces just to steal the rear cargo cover. I was so pissed. It took years to find one at the right price and still in good condition.

 

seriously didnt even think they were rare, both my hatches have it. one is black, the other is blue.

my cat really likes to scratch the one out of the si if I dont catch her in time.... little bitch

my hatch still has its original cargo cover. I honestly didnt think they were that hard to find in good condition

A freind of mine got lucky and found a black one in mint condition(which I'm buying ) at the local pick n pull. It was real cheap too and even came with the side trays that hold it up. I have a blue one I'll be selling real soon in MINT condition. I'm pretty sure you could paint it....

yeah its from a 1990, long as you got the rear trays still it will just plop in there. ill ship it for 20 bucks, so like 50 shipped.

ya its meant for a 15 inch sub but a made a ring to fit my 12 in it i like it and its not to heavy either considering the size of the box
