Ran 15.4@91mph yesterday, piston rings are dying
People said during my last 2 runs down the 1/4 mile, u can see puffs of smoke come out when i shift. My mechanic/buddy said my rings are getting older and needs to be replaced. My question is, what happens if i don't replace them? Do i just keep adding oil as needed and itll be fine? Or will something break and do some real damage to the motor?
oh it definitely is the piston rings. i had it checked before my day of fun on the strip. i just think i made it worse.. oh yeah, smoke was white.
omg, are you guys serious? fine... have it your way. how about this; THEORETICALLY speaking, IF the pistons rings on A car(not specifically my car) has old piston rings that need to be replaced, and the owner of that car(not specifically ME) keeps on running the car hard without replacing the piston rings, then what would be the outcome? Would anything break if the oil levels are maintained?

nothing would break but youd keep burning oil
however, if your rings were bad trust me you would not have to ask anyone
id do a compression and leakdown test and a block tester fluid test
