So here's the piece I'm going to attempt to make. I want to make it out of steel so I can weld it together. My question is, how thick should the steel be so it doesn't flap around when I'm driving around and doesn't bend if I hit some cones or go off track?
Thanks for the input!
it could be quite thin actually if you threw in a bead roll accross it, it wouldnt bend.
i would suggest some aluminum and then you could use 1/8th inch or less and not tack on a bunch of weight

My friend and i decided to do it out of 16g steel. Here's a teaser pic ... just because my battery died
It's complete now, it has a plate that goes behind the lower tank of the radiator and a ramp that leads right into the oil cooler, then into the radiator. I want to just clean and clearcoat it because the welding rainbows on the bottom of the plate are cool ... but it's going to have to be painted so it won't rust
