Default 1995 Civic EX AT Code 22 Help No Vtec!

So I picked up this car, the engine had been swapped out, and it ran like chit! It was throwing multiple codes, most were sensors not hooked up.

So the car runs ok, has a small miss, rev’s slow till 4500, and won’t go past. CEL is on, and only has code 22.

Since I am down to one last "code 22” vtec oil pressure switch.

The Factory Service Manual wants me to check for continuity from the black wire to body ground. Well I don’t have it, so it wants me to “repair broken wire between connector and body ground”

No problem, but before I do this………. I clear the trouble codes, and then jump the black wire to the body. The code returns just as soon as the car is turned to the “run position”.

I thought this was odd, so I checked the same connection on a parts car, it doesn’t have continuity either. But! I never heard this car run, and the trans had been pulled so multiple grounds are missing.

So I am looking in the FSM and cannot find where the “black wire” actually connects to the body ground. So I stripped back the harness to the first ground(the one by the thermostat housing) and low and behold, this wire continues past.

So, before I go any further, does anyone know where this wire grounds? Am I chasing the wrong thing?

Help me get vtec back..:D
