Default coupe vs hatch

I love the EK hatches because I think they look cool (especially with a lip kit and lowered). They got a good set up for a sound system (everyone knows the acoustics in a hatch are awesome), and they are very light.
However:
I dont like them because they have no sunroof or power options. (I own a 2000 CX)

However, the Civic Si (EX in USA) seems like a good car with full power options and a sunroof, but its just not a hatch

I dont know what to do. I know you can just import an EK9 or buy a power window and sunroof kit but thats way too much custom body work for me. Any ideas? Could you switch the Civic Si doors and put them on the hatch?

*edit* I know the EG hatches come power loaded but I really like the EK look, plus its more practical to put money into a newer car, right?

I'm pretty sure it's possible to swap the door panels so you're able to use the power windows and locks, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

A sunroof and sound system would just add weight to your car. Yeah, not a lot, but it's still weight that's not necessarily needed when in your post it seems like your looking for the lighter one.

Anyways, I'll wait for somebody else with more experience with exchanging various '96-'00 interior pieces.

I dont really care about the weight, I'd rather have a nice, comfortable daily driver with power options and a sunroof than hardcore enthusiast with a gutted shell and power steering pump removed etc.

I just wish my EK hatch had a sunroof *sigh*

i have a 95 coupe, with the power windows, locks, etc. and a sunroof(that doesnt work). i would trade it straight up for a gutted out hatch anyday. i agree with you, i too love the hatches body style.

if u listen to rainy city, and want a longer car (lol), id just buy a decent prelude and put a lil into it (hard to find good preludes these days, at least it is in my area)

Preludes are very rare here. The 92-96 years are usually either in rusty condition, or someone has put a lot of work into it and is selling one for $10g-$12g. And the 4th gen's are expensive too. I dont really like the front ends on the 4th gens. Not for 15g Here i'll show you what I mean about the rediculous prices:

http://www.usedregina.com/clas...elude

Someone is selling a 1990 Prelude with 237,000km for 5g? That's so dumb.

ok, well enough on preludes, id say overall get a hatch. they get better mileage and they look better (if in good condition).

how important is a sunroof and power window/locks to you? i wouldnt waste your time putting a sunroof in a hatch, but thats just my opinion (im not sure what it would cost to do such)

Just to note the 92-95 civics did NOT have a power window or lock option. The Si's came with a power sunroof and cruise control, a tach, VTEC (only SOHC) AC, PS and a few other little touches. I'm wanting to do power windows/locks myself, just to have an EG hatch with a sunroof and power everything.

EDIT:TYPO

Yea i am hearing that the girls want girth and length. They put themselves in a catch 22. Idiots! But I had an SI and it worked for me well. I had it fixed up big time and looked great and got a lot of people turning there heads. Also very comfortable if your a tall person.

most of everything will swap over to the hatch.

you pretty much answered your own question.

I'd personally go with the hatch, more potential IMO

But I did a little research and the coupe's roof is shorter than the hatches. I would have to take apart the dash, pillars, roof, weld the Si roof to my hatch with extra metal for filler, put the fabric on the ceiling back on yada yada. Its not worth the work for me Ah well. I will suffer the hot summer days.

If you don't care about the weight, just go for a coupe FTW.

What this man says is true...most chicks don't get the whole hatch thing like guys do. They tend to like coupes better.

EX/SI door panel and guts will fit on the ek hatch.
It's called a civic Si in the USA too. It's 2 different cars. Si has a b16 while ex has the d16y8.
