Ok, so here's the deal, guys. My dad is looking at a used 2001 Accord Lx with 77,500 miles on it. It is in great shape and is equipped with the 2.3L v-tec.

I'm a Jeep guy....I've never owned an import, so I really am lost as to what to look for on this car. What are some of the common problems for this year/generation of Accords, or anything else to look for before purchasing the car? Also, I'm just curious as to what kind of mileage I can expect.

The guy has taken excellent care of the car, and he just took it to a dealer to get a multi-point inspection, and all that they commented on was that it might need a steering and brake fluid flush coming up.

ANY tips/suggestions welcomed. Thanks in advance, guys.

If it's the automatic you can expect tranny trouble. The standards will treat you well. You can expect over 250k out of the engine if you keep up with regular maintenance and oil change. Probably even more than that. It's a Honda. I get 32mpg out of my 2.3L 5 Spd.
