jdm B18C passed ref yesterday!!!
if you are attempting to get you car to pass you will need a stock GSR cat. it makes such a world of difference. it was my fourth time going and i finally passed. i feel great right now.
if you are going through this trouble here is somethings that you can try and should help a lot.
make sure everything is carb legal.
get a usdm p72 ecu
02 sensor- make sure its working properly
stock GSR cat.
and i ran a mix of 91 and 100 octane just to help the fuel burn for efficiently and get more heat to the cat.
and thats all i really had to do. it just took forever to do because no one really tells you what to do to pass a JDM GSR, so i thought i might let everyone know so you don't have to go through the trouble i did.
P.S. this motor in legendary for its high NO readout the max limit is 742 at the 15. i got mine down to 258!!!! my previous lowest score on the 15 was 1600+. on the 25 i got it down to 45 NO.

Hey I have a jdm gsr too.. What about the manifold? can u use a stock jdm gsr manifold? Dont you need the Evap Purge solenoid? and if ur using a usdm p72 ecu then dont you need to wire the CFK sensor since the jdm gsr doesnt have it? tell me more details so I can pass too!!

I refed mine a few years back. I seem to remember that the Y pipe is different on the jdm gsr vs us so you need the us one, I think its longer and the collector is 2.5" on the jdm one. If your running the USDM ecu you have to have the cfk other wise it will throw a code. Make sure you got a stock cat like the op said.

The BS florida emissions law is only going to affect cars made after 2009, we won't ever have to worry about it.

I dont think you can swap an h22 into a civic...
I dont think you can swap an h22 into a civic...
can someone lay down a really simple plan to follow if you have a jdm gsr motor obd2 and are trying to pass ref? I have a 97 civic hatch and I would like to know the real facts from people who actually passed.. for example gsr cat, change to usdm manifold or not? etc etc..
i only wired up the knock sensor. i changed to a aem short ram intake for a 94-98 integra gsr carb #22-404 and i had the dc sport 4-1 ceramic coated header with a usdm p72. the thing that makes the most difference is make sure your 02 sensor is working properly and seriously just get a STOCK GSR CAT. the cat is a special 3 way cat that is specifically designed for that motor and to bring your NO dramatically down. do all that and for an extra boost run an even mixture of 100 and 91 octane and you should be happy with your results. make sure your timing is to spec also.
SO everything else I can keep stock? like the stock jdm gsr manifold, the stock jdm gsr header 2.50 collector?? did you have an EVAP purge solenoid on your manifold and is it a stock jdm manifold? also did you have to wire the crank position sensor?? because the jdm p72 ecu doesnt look for that but the usdm DOES including the evap purge solenoid.
i used my stock jdm intake manifold. i believe you can use the stock jdm header. but id change the header out and save like 30 pounds with an aftermarket header. that cast **** weighs a **** load. yes i do have the evap purge solenoid but its not wired up. you dont need it wired up. and as for the crank position sensor i dont remember having to wire it up i used my stock D16A (Z6) wiring harness. i just had to run the knock sensor and if i want to do the evap purge id have to wire it up.
hey how many wires do you have hooked up on your IAB solenoid? its a 2 piece plug but Im not sure whether or not it uses 2 wires or just 1 like the knock sensor wire.. I know for sure that one of the wire colors are pink/blue am I correct? is there a second wire on the plug? or just one?

just pass mine last month too. but mine was an ls swap
