cd player out of 89crx fit 98hatch?

I have a sony explod cd player that i took out of my 89crx. My friend with a 98 hatch wants it, will it plug right up? Will he need a kit also? Thanks, josh.

the radio harness plugs aren't the same, so no, it won't plug right in if you've got an adaptor plug for your rex....i believe they changed in '96... but if he gets the appropriate adaptor, then it will plug right up after that...and no, he won't need a kit...if you have the metal retaining bracket it'll hold in with that.
