Default model question....

i have a 94 honda civic hatch, my question is what type is it (VX, DX, CX, Si)? I pretty sure it's not an Si because it does not have a moonroof, but it does have the side moldings and the side mirrors are the same color as the body (white). it contains a D16Z6 engine (which makes me believe that it is an Si, but it does not have a moonroof, so what type of model is it? I would post a pic of the car but i do not know how to post it (someone needs to tell me, i really need to know how).

It's a DX if it has side moldings and a rear wiper.

yup, that's exactly what it has, so does that mean that the VX and the CX are the ones without side moldings? i also have a gauge cluster with tach, does that mean that it's from a Si too (or EX)?

Well...the CX model does not have the side moldings, or the z6 engine so you can count that out.

If it does not have the sunroof, power windows, or power mirrors, it is not an SI, however it does contain the z6 motor.

The DX model would have come w/ the the D16y7 motor...im not sure about the VX hatch though. Also, the DX hatch is a little bit more of a square body style.

Is your body style more rounded?...im guessing you have a VX model (im just not sure what motor that comes w/ unless someone swapped it and didnt say).

Im very curious about what model it is, but if you guys tell me how to post pics, i could show you guys. Im sure that would help like a lot. I can't exactly say if my vehicle is square or round because i haven't had the chance to compare it to the other EGs.

CX = no side moldings or rear wiper. D15B8, no tach on cluster.

VX = no side moldings or rear wiper. D15Z1, tach with 6000 redline on cluster.

DX = side moldings and rear wiper. D15B7, no tach on cluster.

Si = side moldings, rear wiper, moonroof. D16Z6, tach with 7200 redline on cluster.

All four bodies are the same, as far as hatches go.

Original poster has a DX. Engine swaps are quite common, which is why he has a Z6 in his DX.

It's weird because everything in the engine and the car itself looks factory, that brings up to me the question that was the swap very simple? what i'm trying to say was it just take out engine, put new engine, plug-n-play, add a v-tec switch, done?

Well..all I was really incorrect on was the engine in the DX hatch...I believe i was thinking of the EJ2.

All of the other things such as tach or rear wiper, I did not comment on. I also did state that I didn't know about the VX hatch. Also, I think you know what i meant by a little more "square"....It doesnt seem to be as round as the CX, VX, or SI hatch

Thanks for clearing this up though

look at my profile pic, that's what it looks like, it looks like an EG, arnt all the models suppose to have the same exact body? So does that mean that all models use the exact same harness with no extra wires? If so, this makes the EG a more unique vehicle that i admire even more now!!!

I don't know 5th gens so well, and you do. So if I could at least hear a bunch of parts listed off by you, that'd be enough.
