What the advantage and disadvantage of LSD?

Does it make the car harder to turn in parking lots?

I know it aids in traction, I used to have a LSD in rear end of my Tacoma. Going around sharp corners with the LSD, it would lock up and the inside tire would squeal. In the front I had a selectable Air locker, when on-road it stayed open, but off-road about 30-60% of the trails where ran in lock mode depending on the terrain.

lsd allows for harder more effective takeoffs compared to one leggers, and you can pull through turns a bit harder, i have driven a 00' civic si with lsd, and a 99' civic w/o lsd, and wow, big difference!

Hondas use Torsen units that are much much much smoother than most truck units. Trucks usually use viscous or clutchpack units. This is done because when one wheel comes off the ground or one wheel is on some part that has ABSOLUTELY NO traction (like ice), the torsen effectively becomes an open diff. Not a great truck/Suv application.

The Honda diff or any torsen diff is totally seamless...you dont even know it's there until you need it. It does not make it harder to turn in parking lots or anything else.

It wont cause understeer on decel (FWD cars) because it's open on decel. It becomes an LSD only on acceleration and even then, it's silky smooth. Obviously, if you jam on the gas and lock both wheels completely, it will understeer on acceleration.

It is used for better corner exit or traction off the line. It is also used by hard parkers to say "I have a super JDM LSD trans".
