Default A hatch that's not a Civic: My Daihatsu Charade

It's a 16v, one previous owner, running coilovers and Ronal Turbos.

+1 looks good, especially with that stance.

I absolutely love the wheels!!! I haven't seen a Charade in years though. They sold the 3 doors in the US for a year or two as well as the Rocky SUV (think Suzuki Samurai). UNfortunatley we never got the 5 door or the 16v engine. How much power does it have?

Cool!

Every now and then you see one of those here in the States, as Daihatsu was sold in the U.S. for a short time.

Any specs? power, weight, etc. Looks like it gets pretty good mileage.

Thanks, people
It's got 90 bhp and weighs 1870 lbs, so it feels quick for what it is. I've gotta admit the style on building Hondas in the States has inspired me, plus some European cars. Coilovers were ordered from New Zealand, built in Taiwan. A friend of mine imported the Ronals from Germany, and inside I've got an interior from a Charade Turbo and some parts I bought from the Philippines. More work has gone into it than the pictures show (isn't it always like that?)

Very similar specs to the original 1986 Civic SI. That car was more fun than anything else I have ever driven for back road hooliganism!

The Charade is Car of the month in the readers rides section in a British mag called Retro Cars.

Congratulations!!!

I came across this on a rally web site the other day and I figured I'd post it since it's Daihatsu Charade related. Aparently they were working on a mid engined, rear drive Charade for Group B rallying before the class was banned due to the cars being too fast. It was designed by DeTomaso (of Pantera fame) and would have been similar to the Renault R5 Turbo which was already past it's prime at the time.

Thanks guys
The 926 DeTomaso would maybe have secured cult status in the same way the other cars in Group B got. Then everyone would have rocked Charades
