Well I dont know what you really want to accomplish with this vehicle. If you want to go fast than either one is fine. If you want to get some exterior stuff like a body kit and other things than you should go for a CRX because there is not much for the HB.

I think that the Crx looks alot better than the hatchback. I used to like the hatchbacks untill I found out that there isn't much you can do to it. So I looked up stuff for the 88-91 crx and found tons of mods for it. So I think that you should go for the Crx.

Get the '87 hatchback. Is it an Si or is it carbed? If its an Si then its fuel injected and put your LS in that. Itll definitely be a sleeper and its going to haul ***! I like CRX's but i think if you can be different in anyway then do so and 3rd civics with swaps are very rare. I used to have an '87 Si hatch with B20vtec and i drove it everyday. It was my only mode of transportation. It wasnt the most comfortable car but it was fast and it suprised every one i ever raced. Would you really expect an older civic to have a B series in it? Exactly!!

you can convert carbed to FI, itll just take some time, money, and wiring. might be able to do it in a weekend if you work all day.
