Default Speedometer question.

Does a Hydro speedometer fit on a SOHC cable tranny?
I just got done putting an ITR cluster in my car. It works great exept that I need to put the speedo in the tranny. Any advise?

it would probably work. you might have to custom fab a tiny piece of metal to hold it in place.

im assuming that he's talking about an electric speedo off of a hydro tranny and putting it onto his cable tranny with a cable speedo.

Yes. Thats what I'm talking about. So, has anyone done it?
I can't get the damn cable housing off of the cabble tranny... Otherwise I would've known the answer by now.

search around for pics but what I remember reading and seeing was the gear at the end of the cable VSS is shorter(and plastic) than the gear on electric VSS(metal), so replacing a electric VSS with a Cable Vss works fine, but I'm not sure about the other way.

It should work but maybe it will bottom out, and be too long

if you find out let us know.

Related to the conversation.

tonight, we took the speedometer pinion assembly out of a B series cable trans and put it in a B-series hydro trans. Installed fine, we'll see if it works. (didn't have the hydro one to compare)

We had a HELLUVA time getting it loose. ended up the best way was a vice grip, clamped hard and rocking it out.

Had a D-series trans laying there, didn't pull it, but looks pretty damn similar.
