Someone down my street is selling a '78 Hawk for $200. Didn't get a chance to talk to them about the bike yet, but I looked it over and it seems to be in pretty good cosmetic condition (didn't read the odometer). I'm assuming it doesn't run.

Any one have info tips on what to look for? I've been searching for a CB350 to chop up into a cafe-racer but I'm contemplating the Hawk. I just wish it had wire spoke wheels. A link to chopped Hawks would be appreciated aswell.

IIRC, "HAWK" is a model name for the venerable "CB" series of bikes.

 

Yes, from what I gather it carries the CB400 moniker. I think I'm going to hold out on an older 350.
