Thunderhill Park - July 26 -www.unlimitedlaps.com
According to the Thunderhill website, there are some spots open for the next day's Street School. I'll be at Street School as an instructor.
Hey ghettoRacer (nice username btw),
Are you going up there the night before? Is the track difficult to find? So far my "caravan" consists of me and only me...hopefully I can find some people to drive up with. Richmond is a little out of my way though (coming up from the Pleasanton/Livermore direction)

yes track is easy to find. go North on I-5 when you get to a city called Willows take 162 West, after about 5 miles or so the track is on your right.

it's a 125 mile drive for me so i leave about 5:15 in the morning and get there just pass 7 am. slightly longer for you at 153 miles. according to the suggest drive above you will pass by where i live.

Awesome, thanks for looking up the directions lol. This is my first track experience so I'm pretty excited and a little worried at the same time. I had planned to autox a few times before I did a track event but that didn't happen. I'm running in the beginners group + instructor so I don't think I'll end up pushing my car beyond the "safe" limits. For added precaution I'll set my koni's to 8 in front and 2 in rear so I can get mADd understeer all day long
Any tips for first tymers like me?

I did my first track time and HPDE at Thunderhill last year. Once I relaxed and got used to the track etiquette I had a great time.
Relax, listen to your instructor, don't push it too hard on your first few laps - get a feel for the track first. Thunderhill is a nice forgiving track for beginners. Be safe and have fun!

There is also a rally cross at Thunderhill on Saturday 27th July. You will see the cones on your left in the dirt just after you turn off 162. I helped put them up last weekend.

don't worry we have good instructors at unlimited laps. bring lots of water and come be prepared to learn. mad understeer is more dangerous sometimes 'cause you'll plow off the track. "throttle is your friend" - GR.
Is there going to be shade of any kind during the off-time on the track?
A black on black integra in the sun all day = oven
Are you bringing some kind of canopy for yourself/car? I was thinking I could pop the trunk and use the hatch for shade
Also, the website didn't make it very clear, but will we be working the track in any way (corner workers, flaggers, etc.)? I can't wait til next Fri...

TH has 2 big tents up. if u have your own you can bring it for your car. if not just a plain windshield screen and/or car cover helps somewhat. your only job is to learn and drive.

i was there in the black nsx with the diffuser on back. SC belt broke in the 3rd session.
i was wondering why the batt and abs light were both on, and why the car was slow.
got it fixed before the next red session started, didn't miss a beat... except the idiot miata that spun and caused a big mess so that 4th session was short and useless anyway. oh well.
pretty big turn out. was your friend's car the one with "hybrid" on back, or the one that broke the front bumper?

Not the hybrid one and we didn't break the front bumper, it had to be taken off to get on the trailer. It was the rex painted the same gray as seen on an s2000.

ghettoRacer,
Were you the instructor with the helmet microphone(s)? I had a blast last Friday; green group thinned out like mad towards the end of the day (Guess people didn't realize just how SLOW green group was
)

heh, got that whole thing on vid? i remember that. the nsx isn't running right but still decently quick with boost (used to top 130 mph, into 5th gear on fron straight) but anyway the rex was right there with me on the straight so i figure it'll have more corner speed since it is a lot lighter and i waved him by... only to see him step the tail out into T1 and then he over correct a little, did a little tank slapper and went into the inside... i was like see ya ;-) that rex is pretty fast on the straights tho. gotta love what a little boost will do. someday i want to finish up a monster road race turbo civic...

Yeah we picked the video up from him the night he got home, and we were laughing our asses off watching it...he bailed so hard into the dirt the camera went crooked for the next lap! The car is scary fast though, ive driven it a handful of times and it still amazes me at how hard it pulls.
Last time i was out there, I hit 125 in my gti on the front straight and that was scary as crap going into turn 1 from that rate of speed, i could imagine what he was going through at probably closer to 135-140 in that car!
We'll try to get vids up soon...

Yeah when i lost it i was topped out in 5th... I looked back and saw you a little behind, and then i was curious how fast i was going becuase i know a Supercharged NSX isnt slow... By then i was in T1 and i knew i was screwed...
I raced alot on road courses and knew immediately that braking was going to cost me a big mistake, so i tried to pull it through... Before that run group i was tweaking with the suspension trying new things.. It was the first event we did with that car ever....
Hopefully in October i will have a tranny that doesnt grind in 2nd. 3rd. and 4th. and also have a LSD..
And by then i will be boosting at 12 psi or more instead of 9 psi
Maybe we can give eachother rides in our cars
