have the gauge needle been modified? This could lead to tachometer inaccuracy.

well i figured it's either a wiring problem, or the gauges. but it's a gsr swap ina 94 civic coupe. and the gauges are the stock gauges.

Connect an external tachometer to verify the reading. The stock tachometer was not designed for accuracy at 8000 RPM.

My friends GSR did the same thing. turned out his rotor cap was shot. We replaced that it worked just fine.

correct, but then he did say vtec was engaging. so if the cell was on vtec will not engage.

it's probably that your burning oil all the time but only noticing it at high rpms because it is so minor; but that is just a possibility

if vtec is engaging and your intake manifold isn't clogged, i wouldnt know why the ecu would cut at 7 but...
basic troubleshooting would tell you to check sensors such as map sensor and cyp sensor, which is the dizzy-the dizzy is probably what i would check first if vtec is engaging with secure electrical wiring and if there is no cel

well i know that my car throws the check engine light, but i thought it was just because absence of the knock sensor. cas this gsr isn't in an actual teg. it's in a 92-95 civic coupe.

the only bad thing about this whole ordeal is... i live in BFE. it's very rare if i could possibly find anyone around here that has any clue on what there talkin about. kind of a country area xD. "if it aint a ford or a dodge" its a rice burner? haha.

most likely valve seals. if you hit vtec alot they wear out.

yea i belive it's the seals.. and hey nik i think you might be right.. i had a dude tell me that since my car was throwing the check engine light, due to my knock sensor..( which i hope that's the only reason it's on) well anyways he said my car would be running in "limp mode". so it's deff some kinda wiring or sensor problem =[

what i meant was the terminals for your ignition coil, that the manual refers to as "terminals a and b"
