So next week I'm making a permanent move from IL (Chicago area) to CA (Bay area). For years I've heard about California emissions standards vs. the rest of the US and I know that my car - 1999 Accord EXV6 - had 2 sub models: 49 State emissions and California emissions.

Now my question is this - does CA have some sort of law requiring conversion to CA emissions from 49 state emissions? If so, how does that work, how much does it cost, what exactly is done, and could I do it myself?

Thoughts? Anyone have experience with this?
