what do ya'll think of this simple contraption
I would recommend going to Pep Boys and buying one for less than $5. That is what I did. So far I haven't noticed any metal shavings on mine.
I can tell ya what I think of a $37.00 oil drain plug....
Never would I spend that much on something like that. Plus..It can't help that much or some cars (high-end ones) would come with them.
Just my thoughts.....

I bought one from pep boys too but it was kinda hard to put in so i just didn't install it. I don't want a stripped oil pan again. What's the correct size btw?

well the main thing i meant was do you think it would make any impact on the reliability of the engine and if the little metal particles would damage the engine. cause i don't think it would make that big of a difference cause my cousin has an integra LS from like 86....or somethin...all i know is that it is the year after tegs were introduced to america. and his engine is fine. same one since the day he bought the car.
i bet the tranny magnetic plug would help tho, seeing how lil bits of gear or whatnot would float atound the tranny
yup i'm the bone head who spent that much on the spoon drain plug set
.........say what you want but even if i went to my local parts store they is never any part listings for magnetic drain plugs for honda/acura. and even if they do have one it would have incorrect threads to match the pan and tranny. i dont want to strip any threads........
BTW: i do collect some metal particals from the engine and quite a bit from the tranny as well

I have one that i paid about $2 for about 18months ago, i check it every time i change the oil and i have yet to find a single metal shaving on it!!! $37 for one is an insane price, especially for something no one will ever see, and if they did probably couldnt tell if it was made by SPOON or that other well known parts manufacturer.....FORK!!!
has anyone heard anything good about that fram oil nozzle and hose drain.
I would not pay $37 for an oil drain plug magnetic or not... I'm just using the stock drain plug..
for you guys that bought magnetic drain plugs at autozone or pep boys do you have to ask for it at the parts counter? or is it in the isles because I don't think I've ever seen it before while I was in the store in the isles but then maybe I overlooked it.. maybe I should look harder and walk down all the isles.. but please let me know $2 isn't bad I'd give it a try to see if I get any shavings from my motor and see if it works... if you have any part numbers that'd be great too... I'll see if I can swing by AutoZone today after work..
