I just bought an Accord v6-6 coupe and even though the tires are new, they are no-name all seasons that chirp with a slightly quicker clutch slip than normal. I plan on occasionally taking it to the strip, and have a Civic for my winter car, so it will not see the treacherous snowstorms, so atleast summer tires can be used. I had the first gen Falken Azenis on my old DA, and I absolutely loved them. I have never used any other high performance tires, so I don't really know what to compare them to. I'm looking at the new rt-615s so far, and the pricing isn't so bad I guess.

Does anybody have any experience with performance tires on the higher end of the spectrum? I would have thought the OP laid out the objective with proficient detail.

The most common 17" tire size for your car is 215/50-17. The diameter of the 235/45-17 is close, but with that much width, I would be worried about rubbing.
Anyway, if you want to go with 235/45-17, and assuming you're looking for the best dry grip and you don't mind somewhat rapid tire wear (like the Azenis), I recommend the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, which comes in that size. Performance is even better than the Azenis, both dry and wet, and the price is similar.

Cool. GK has 235s on his Accord coupe with HFP suspension, which lowers it 1" which is the same suspension I plan on getting. I looked into the Kumho Ecsta MX's as well. Thanks for the suggestion

He's tried the Azenis so he's looking for supersticky tires, and Sumitomo doesn't make any tires in that segment.
