?jdm rear bumper how to install??
just bought a jdm rear bumper and filler piece for my 91 civic si and dont know what i need to put it on. is it bolt on or do i need other parts? thanks
Just installed my JDM rear bumper, I dont have the jdm rear filler piece so there is a slight gap. Looks kinda bad but...the bumper bolts right on. I'm planning on getting the rear filler pieces also, but from what I have read the keyhole doesnt line up on the JDm piece. So you either have to shave the keyhole completely or re-cut another hole so it will line up. Not sure hope soembody that has done it can shed some light.

that is true. the hole doesn't line up.

There is 2 bolts one by each side of the mud guard, 2 bolts, one beneath each tail light. and one bolt behind the license plate. I just took off my rear bumper to fix my fog. So if my memory serves me correct, lol this is how you do it.

i really dont see a differance between the jdm r bumper and the bumper on my 89 dx. however i tryed matching up the stock filler piece and the jdm one an they seem to be a little different and the keyhole lined up fine just really snug.

Not all JDM rear bumpers had the lip. A lot of the lower models actually did not come with the lip, but to my knowledge all JDM EF hatchback bumpers were the same. The rear lip fits on all of them. However, the USDM and CDM rear bumpers do not accommodate the lip.

caseyjck20,
I used the JDM support & the JDM bumper cover. The JDM support is not really much of a support at all. It should only weigh like 20lbs total where as the USDM support and cover weighs maybe 50lbs+. The gaps are mostly at the top, the screws/rubber things that hold the bumper cover to the support stick out slightly maybe 1/2 inch. 1989civicsi may be right it looks like 89 civic rear bumper but not sure?

Seconded, you may have been scammed. I have the JDM SiR rear bumper sitting to the left of me right now (at my desk), and the JDM rear filler sitting at home. The keyhole for the SiR rear filler does not line up at all. It's off to the right about an inch, and outwards more about 1/4"-1/2" (the rubber garnish that slides over the keylock cylinder is slightly longer to accommodate for this, but you still need to drill and modify for the keylock to work). I hope you didn't pay full street-price for the JDM rear end, because you can get the USDM/CDM 88-89 rear pieces for about $50 or less. Hell, I'm giving mine away for free to a friend.

i have now found out that i did get a usdm filler piece, but im still cant see the
difference between the jdm rear bumper and a 89-91 us bumper. i belive i do
have a base model jdm bumper because it does not have a place to put a screw
behind the licance plate like my si and 89dx. and the bracket that holds on the
plate only is used to rest on it and the other two bolt holes(licance plate) screw
into the bumper?support.
