Default ZC swap....and air cylinders...

K..I have a 92 EG Hatch VX.....

My motor sucked up water and now is dead....is s DOHC ZC motor worth the swap and money and time.....what are the specs on this motor??? this car is my daily driver and I need it up quick....and I have about 1500 bucks....

also...all my struts are blown.....and I'm going for show here...and I can get a good deal on air cylinders all the way around installed for like 400 to 500 bucks....are they good for daily driver....remember showing and daily driver not race.....

ZC swap worth it? absolutely. Air cylinders good for daily driving? absolutely. Just don't take corners at 70 miles per hour and expect the cylinders to remain functional. I'm not looking up specs on the ZC for you...that's what "search" is for.

Well....

What did this engine come out of??
Does the ZC bolt right in???
What are the horse/torque specs??
Is there aftermarket support on it??

My main concern is that I want it to bolt right on...and be able to keep my ac...is that possible....???

ZC hp is 129

And no, it doesn't drop in. I tried. Mounts are different.

For $1500 you should be able to get a really nice D16Z6, full swap. 125hp SOHC VTEC. And it bolts right in. If your tranny, axels, and shift linkage are still good, just buy a D16Z6 longblock, wire harness and ECU. That should run from $600-$900. http://www.hondamotorsonline.com had them at $1600 full swap + shipping for a while, they still should. Good condition and low miles.

Thanks....

that's excactly what I wanted to know...

my tranny is bad...vx long *** gears.....one axle is ripped...

So I'll try to get the D16z6 and get a new clutch and use my vx flywheel since it's lighter stock.....

now what clutch is good...I've never experimented or read about drive train stuff or internals..etc so help a brother out...

omg i've must have posted about the 92-95 ZC about a billion times. the 92+ ZC BOLTS RIGHT IN. just proves my point, NEVER take just one persons responce, always get 3+ before taking what has been said as true....

the 92+ hydro odb1 ZC can be found for around 500-600 bux and it will bolt to your stock tranny, plug into your stock wiring and work like it was ment to be there

Sweet...do its a D series engine...so does that mean I can use my VX d15z1 flywheel on the DOHC ZC???

Bolts right in huh...cuz I can get it for 600 total.....plus install like 500 bucks...

What ECU does it use.....how about after market stuff..like headers and intakes etc....

maintance on it??? can anyone do it...or is it rare parts etc??

How does ur car feel with the swap..I want something better than before...

Does it fit with my current ac?? I have no P/s...just AC is my concern since I live in AZ.....let me know thanks bro

a/c bolts right up. flywheel bolts right on. you use a 94-95 teg LS ecu. any d-series header bolts right on to it. B16 cam gears work on it. you'll feel the difference, there is around 40 hp and 15 ft/lbs over your old VX motor...it will get you solid 15.5s with a EX/Si tranny.

WTF! Mine didn't bolt in right. I've swapped 3 D series motors so far. Wish I didn't sell it. And I paid $500 just for my motor. Perfect condition and looking JDM too.

Well I called around shops in my area and they said that it would be a pain and that I'd need to rewire everything and get new distribotor and injectors to make teh ZC in OBD 1...bla bla bla...so I found 2000 EX swap I got my eye on...1400 installed with like 15k to 20k miles on it....so I'm trying to go thta route now...

THanks for your time....

NO not airbags....air cylinders....

those liars! those stupid shops think you are trying to make the 88-91 ZC work in your car. tell them you want the 92+ ODB1 ZC from the 4-door AWD Civic. call import powerhouse...thats where i got mine. it pluged right in, everthing, even the dist. it ran perfect...no custom wiring!!

i got a 92 DOHC ZC in my pre-obd crx... i just had to use the motor mount off of my old si engine and everything bolted right up... even my pre-obd wiring harness and the cable tranny. i did have to use a zc distributor and re-wire that to fit my harness btu that took like 5 minutes. not that the above info applies to you, but the motor halls ***... reliable and prbabaly cheaper than that z6 your looking at...
