Default ░▒▓ the datsun 510 with honda S2000 guts adventure! ▓▒░

Edit: Instead of looking at pics, I made a quick video of the process, hope you like it.

got my 510 last year after looking for a while
( i think my childhood with grampa kicked in and wanted to get me a L series motor )
the car ran great with the L16 w/ SU's hitting tops 80 mph at the 118 fwy ,
but i need mooore and finally i had the chance to get f20c swap for it.

had the chance to get a SR swap , KA or 302 shortblock...but the s2k swap is just what i wanted.

had to fix some stuff before getting the swap
( suspention , rear disc convertion, front 280 brakes , lighting , fix a 30's something short circuit , etc )

i been working for some time now... getting info ( thing that is almost imposible for this kind of proyect ) ,
what im trying to do is use honda info and apply it into the datsun (evil laughter : muahahahaha )

today i had the chance to take some pics ...
i been working on the weekends and hope to keep posting the process....

1970 510

stock L16 with SU's and dog leg tranny !

last day with sotck motor.

upsy daisy!

mock up crossmember...

test fitting. looks like it was meant to be...

next stage : fuel system, gas tank relocation , and learn how to AN fitting it ...

thanks guys..
right now im just waiting from summit / earls to get the rest of the lines, fittings, hoses , adapters...

trying to find out whats the best way to cover those big drilled holes on the firewall...
the sheetmetal on the datsun its thin,
so i may just burn it all the way if i mig it...

the master cylinder will clear with inches to spare.

however, the intake will require a 90 degree elbow b/c it will be really close to the radiator---given that you'll run an oversize radiator like i did. to get around this issue, you could always run ITBs.

planing to use the stock s2k radiator in order to have the same location for water temp sensor
but in case doesnt fit right i should go with an aftermarket...
the only thing is wich one? probably a muscle rad.
I will like to go with ITB's but my funds went to EMS ...

hey btw macrosshn : what rad did u use? chevy ? ford?

the update for today...

wanted to use s2k gas tank ( using oem sender and pump , even with EFI fittings ) but doesn't fit right on the trunk..
decided to chop the fuel pump ring and weld it into the stock 510 gas tank.
and used JB to " seal " any posible air leaks.

also because the 510 gas tank fail to have " reserve gas unit " im using gas tank foam to avoid suddenly starvation

just got this week my 3/16 , 3/8 lines AN ,fittings , flare kit etc.
next week i should start with the fuel lines.

Stock 510 gas tank

simple template

chopped s2k tank

s2k ring into 510 gas tank

JB rocks! lol

I've never heard of this 'gas tank foam" before, what exactly does it do and how do you apply it?

im saying it wrong, its " fuel cell foam " that goes inside the fuel tank
to avoid splashing of the gas inside.
