is it a vtec head?
how do you know if its a vtec head if it does not have a vtec solinoid or valve cover because i baught one off of cl and he said its a vtec head for single but it does not have a solinoid but theres oil where the solinoid sapose to be
the sure-fire way to tell... pull the VC off and see if you have a vtec lobe on the cam and the vtec rocker/idler. solenoid or not, without the lobe on the cam it's not vtec.

pics would be great

this is the only pic i had handy. it shows the rocker assemly and head of an Accord F23.. not the same as the one you're looking at, but close enough for clearity.

you can see the rocker arms are labeled. each rocker coresponds to a lobe on the camshaft. the one I've labeled "VTEC" is what you're looking for. you should see five rocker arms arranged similarly. only four would indicate non-VTEC.
