Default Oil light ON at idle?

I changed my oil pan gasket, oil, and filter today. And now oil light comes on only at idle, turns off when i pass 1k rpm. Still has a slight oil leak from the oil pan like it always had, but it never turned on the oil light. Oil is fine, i checked it when it was cold and hot. Also when it drops to idle, the rpm drops to about 500 and a weird noise sounds then gets back up to 800k and no noise.

Motor is a 97 ls with 113k miles. I have no idea if the oil pump is new or still stock.

it knocks when the rpms go down when it almost stalls. after that it sounds normal even if i rev 7k.

light is on, you are losing oil pressure!!! it's bad news. i would not drive the car or rev it too much until you get it sorted out. that knocking noise you hear is proof. the pump may be going bad or you are leaking elsewhere. i would get an oil pump and fix your leaks...and hope you don't have a spun bearing or other damage

Make sure you have enough oil and you didnt mess up the oil pressure sender wire. I agree that you shouldnt even drive the car till you sort this out. It only takes a few seconds to spin a bearing or worse. Good luck

Check your oil pressure sending unit. I had the same problem with my integra and it just happened to be old/leaky. They are like 10 bucks from dealer.

Yeah get that stuff figured out before your redlining your engine. I wouldn't even turn it on untill you fix it. GL with it.
