Default Smooth riding coilovers?

My buddy has an EJ coupe ( 96 ) and has had 60$ ebay coilovers on it for a while now (hasn't blown a strut) and is sick of hitting bumps and nearly slamming his head into the headliner. I pointed him in the direction of the skunk2 Pro S coilovers that I see people talking about in here that carry a 600$ price tag. My question is - how much smoother will the ride be. He is interested in an aggresive ride - but not so stiff it feels like a hay wagon. his car sits with 16" wheels almost tucked.

what struts are on it?

Try keeping the coil over sleeves and buying like eibach springs instead of the pieces of **** they give you with the ebay coilovers... (~$70 a pair and they are the same that come with ground controls)... Try some cheaper options first
