Fuel Guage Not Working...Voltage is too high?
Ok, my fuel guage is not working so I pulled the clip going to the sensor in the tank and measured the voltage. Helm's claims that 5-8V is good, I have 12V at the clip. Also, I am having some issues with my seatbealt indicator light. I pulled the Fuel gauge sending unit and manually moved the float, and it is controlling my seat belt indicator light. Wtf? The seat belt light gets brighter as the float goes up. Where could these wires be crossed, possibly the steering column?

yea my guess is cluster because of how flimsy the green film is, but steering column is definitely possible...i'd start by unhooking the seatbelt sensor clip and check with multimeter again/see if it reads fuel depth
I figured this one out.....
I had a 97 LS cluster in a 98 GS-R car and this was my problem. The GS-R wiring harness had two wires in the wrong spot...the seat belt reminder and fuel guage. I matched them to the cluster and everything is all good.
