Default Trunk/Gas release is screwed up

hello everyone,

i recently bought a 05 civic ex a few days ago and am quite satisfied with my purchase....however ive found one problem

the lever releases the gas tank fine, but when i tried to lift the lever up to release the trunk it seems to become stuck almost like it is locked

i have attempted to remove the plastic panels along the side to see if i could fix the problem, but i couldnt remove the shell around the lever

anybody have any ideas or tips?

Please use the search feature, as this is a common problem with this generation of Civic.

I sent you a PM, but i don't know if you can receive PMs yet. Look at the trunk/fuel door latch, there is a lock on it, see if it is locked, if it is unlock it then try to pop the trunk.
