So I found a broken dust boot on my inner tie rod, so I ordered new inners and outers (along with some new UCA's and lower Ball Joints) , but I'm reading that the cause of the break, and the fact that p/s fluid is in that boot, is due to a leaky rack.
I noticed that Acura carries a P/S Rack seal kit, that has all of the seals that are needed. Has anyone done this before? I've never removed the rack or done any tie rods before, so I'm looking for any advice, and also to double check that the kit is what I need to fix this.(#1 under P/S Gearbox Components)
Thanks guys...

Its a very big pain in the *** to pull the rack. It seems to be a lot easier to pull the engine out and then the rack.
Is there any fluid leaking from the torn boot? If not, then just replace the boot, do a fresh alighment and you are set. I have not heard of racks going bad on Integras, but anything is possible.

Yeah, there is a small amount of fluid in the boot. I believe the rack went bad (or at least the seals) because the previous owner had a power rack, but used it as a manual. As far as I know, he didnt loop the system so it had lubrication. I'm thinking about just buying a new rack in case there is further damage, but I'll most definitely need to do it w/o removing the engine.
Has anyone done a rebuild before on a Honda power rack?

why would you R&R only to reseal it? How much is a rack for it, $130? Just R&I a new rack.

Found a seal kit for $17 on auto parts warehouse, so I'm going to try that and if it's bad when it's apart I'll go from there. Worst case I'm out an extra 20. A new rack is like $200...where are you seeing a power rack for $130? Either way it's coming out, so it sucks if it's up in the air on stands for a week, but I'd rather not risk spending 200 for no reason. There's almost no play, just a small knock which I'm wondering if it is the inner tie rod. If that's all it is, then the seals and some new boots are all I need.
Just ordered:
New Boots
New Front Shocks (Tokico Illuminas to replace the same)
UCA's
Lower Ball Joints
Inner and Outer Tie Rods
Seal Kit for P/S Rack
Misc. Castle nuts and cotter pins for the install.
Gonna be a fun time once I get it all...ugh.

for some reason my car is missing the boot(s), didnt check passenger side yet, and i am about to replace the boot...i see it even if the seal kit fails and the rack still leaks, as long as you keep fluid in reservoir your steering will be fine

I guess to an extent, yeah...I'm not one to let things go like that though. If I'm getting a clunking when parked, I tend to think that there is some play in the rack, and that it's on it's way out. I'm debating b/w doing the seals and maybe having to pull the rack twice if it goes down the road, or just shell out the cash right now (which will only put me into debt more...gotta love repairs.
Thanks for the responses guys...does anyone have an info on how to actually rebuild one? Can't seem to find any.
