Default real or not? what kind of chip? P28 w/mugen chip

ok here's the deal. i just came up on a great deal. i traded an obd1 LS dizzy for a chipped P28 that according to the guy is a mugen chip. how can i tell if its a genuine mugen? im slowly piecing together the parts to convert my obd0 LS/V crx to obd1. here are some pics i took of the ecu. thanks guys..

i compared it to my stock M/T P28 and the numbers on the label are different so i know that it was a A/T converted to "mugen M/T"

I wouldn't run that chip in your car.. there really isn't any such thing as a "mugen" chip. Mugen made OEM reflashed ECU's, so a DOHC P28 Mugen reflash was never made. Most likely someone read the specs of the mugen ECU, I.E. rev limit, vtec crossover, etc.. and just changed those settings, which is pretty dumb.

the moral of the story is that unless you know what is on the chip won't mess up your car, you shouldnt run it with that ecu. You should probably run a b18b stock map or GSR map until you can get the car really tuned..

well im not planning on running it in my car anytime soon. im piecing together all the parts that im gonna need to convert my crx to obd1. but for the most part i think a socketed ecu for a dizzy that i got for free is a pretty good addition to my parts list.

Thats not a real Mugen chip. Your best bet is to hit up the dyno and use a custom tune for your exact motor. Why use some generic chip "one fits all", i don't there's any benefit t that

I think there was a thread in the ECU Tuning Forum on here and some of the guys posted what is on these "mugen, spoon, toda" chips and well...they all seemed pretty alarmed.

Dyno time FTMFW!

x2. pretty sure a p28 is for sohc vtecs. 92-95 civic ex or si. i dont see why mugen would make a chip for a usdm ecu. mugen is pretty jdm.

i know a P28 is a sohc from a 92-95 ex/si, im asking because i just got the ecu for near nothing. for now i think im gonna have john@j-k-tunning.com burn me a stock b16 chip so i can convert to obd1 and then try n find a local tunner, like .Many. suggested.
